Tau Kappa Epsilon at the University of Southern California
The Beta Sigma Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity was founded at the University of Southern California on October 31, 1948. Never closed, it is the only fraternity chapter at USC to have remained officially active and recognized by both the University and International Fraternity since its inception. Our story begins after World War II, when two TKE’s came to USC for graduate work. Seeing the need for a greater fraternity system, they recruited 30 men who organized the Scorpion Club with the sole intention of becoming a chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon. After the club convinced the national fraternity that it could stand on its feet, it soon became the Beta Sigma Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon.
TKE at USC is comprised of three active organizations:
Beta Sigma Chapter
The Beta Sigma Chapter is the active undergraduate fraternity organization. Widely regarded as the fraternity offering the best overall undergraduate experience at USC, TKE is a welcome addition to the University community. With over 120 members, the chapter excels in every aspect of campus life.
The Beta Sigma Alumni Association
The Beta Sigma Alumni Association is the official and Internationally recognized alumni organization for the Beta Sigma Chapter. The Association sponsors events throughout the year including TKETent football tailgates and the Fraternity for Life Weekend. The Association has been in operation for 20 years.
Scorpion Benefit Corporation
The Scorpion Benefit Corporation is the corporation that owns and operates the chapter’s two adjacent properties and houses. A Board of Trustees comprised of 10 established and well-respected Beta Sigma alumni administers Scorpion Benefit Corporation. The same core volunteer leadership has remained consistent on the board for almost 30 years.
